Bocasu is a contemporary Japanese restaurant that is not a typical venue. It occupies a two-storey warehouse in Al Quoz Industrial Area 3, behind an unmarked black exterior flanked by two sentinel bonsai trees. Nothing on the outside prepares guests for what's inside.
The ground floor centers on the Main Hall, where high ceilings and dim lighting frame a rotating centerpiece: Bocasu partners with car showrooms to display vintage and luxury vehicles, set alongside a 250-year-old bonsai tree and a wider collection reportedly valued at over AED 10 million. The interior leans into all-black stone, quiet luxury that reads closer to a members' club than a restaurant, with floor-to-ceiling windows onto the living bonsai collection.
Two private spaces extend the venue beyond the main floor. The Bonsai Art Room sits on the ground floor as an intimate private dining room. Upstairs, the mezzanine holds an open lounge area alongside a second, larger private dining room with capacity to extend for bigger groups.
The kitchen is led by Chef Yu Hasegawa, with over twenty years of experience across Japan, Hong Kong, and New York. Menus run from omakase to à la carte, with dishes including the Filet Mignon Jawarma (a Japanese take on shawarma), flamed seaweed handrolls, and Wagyu A5 udon, built around individually flamed and tableside preparations. Bocasu is also the first restaurant with its own staff-starring series, a manga following Chef Yu's journey, and an anime film in production.
Capacity: 136 seated / 230 standing across the full venue.

Load-in: entrance opening measures 2.5m (W) x 3.36m (H), built to accommodate anything from driving a car in to bringing in full installations.
